This course focuses on assessing characteristics of injuries and medical conditions as they relate to child abuse and neglect, effective interactions with medical professionals, and assessing medical safety with a focus on short- and long-term planning. Topics discussed are, but not limited to, common medical conditions, burns, fractures, abusive head trauma, injury mimics, internal injuries, oral injuries, and medical trauma.
