This training will guide Contractors and Sub-Contractors through the process of assessing and preparing potential resource families to meet the needs of children from the child welfare system. Participants are guided through an assessment process that builds on the philosophy of empowerment, cultural competency and addresses the impact of separation and loss on children. Participants will also learn the forms associated with the assessment process.
Objectives
- Define what a Resource Family Assessment is and expectations for the Resource Family Agency.
- Demonstrate the ability to ask second level questions during interviews.
- Identify discrepancies in the documentation that require further exploration and/or information.
Intended Audience
Participation is limited to Foster Care/Adoption Specialists, Contractors and Sub-Contractors.
