  1. Schedule meetings at the beginning of each day and the end of each day for staff to attend.
  2. Meetings should be no more than 10-15 minutes.
  3. Staff should be in a safe, quiet area for community meetings to occur.
  4. Hold Beginning of Day Meeting
  5. Facilitate the community meeting.
    1. Greet, explain process (as needed)
    2. Facilitator should ask each person in the group the following questions and conclude by having a person in the group ask them these questions.
    3. “How are you feeling this morning?”
      1. Good is not a feeling, either is okay. If people are struggling with a feeling, ask them to describe how they are feeling in terms of a weather forecast. Adults do tend to struggle with this. It’s important to assist them in developing this ability so that we can model it for our clients. The intent here is not to process feelings or to ask why someone is feeling how they are. It is to allow them the opportunity to share. Do not follow up in the meeting with how someone is feeling. If you feel that it is critical to follow up with someone about a feeling, do so after the community meeting.
    4. “What’s one goal you have for today?”
    5. “Is there anyone here that can help you to accomplish that goal?”
      1. If the participant says “Yes” and names a person, ask that person if they can be of assistance. If they say “No” see next bullet.
      2. If the participant says “No” ask the group if anyone would be willing to help if the need arose.
